Special announcement for Plymouth Public Library patrons

- Content Provided by nathan Mayer

The Plymouth Public Library (PPL) would like to announce the following to their patrons.

Beginning Thursday, Nov. 5, through Monday, Nov. 9, patrons and library staff will not be able to perform the following actions: renewing items, updating patron information, and placing items on hold.

PPL is in the process of transitioning to a new operating system, and during the final phase out of the old system library staff will be able to only check items in or out. If you have existing items on hold, those will carry over to the new system. If an existing item on hold is returned, staff will contact you like before, and you will still be able to check out that item. However, new holds will not be able to be placed until after the designated time frame.

Existing library cards will also remain active, but any 4-digit PIN numbers associated with patron records will no longer exist. The new system will automatically change existing PIN numbers to the last four (4) numbers of each patron’s library card. If you wish to change your PIN number back to the specific one you had before, you may do so at either Circulation Desk when PPL has completed the transition to the new system. Unfortunately, PIN numbers cannot be changed over the phone.

apps and services such as Hoopla and Overdrive will still exist, though you may need to log out and log back in if you experience any trouble.

Shoutbomb will also be ending soon. The new operating system will feature a better way of informing patrons about available holds, items coming due, etc. Stay tuned for that new feature once it is time.

The new system “goes live” Monday, Nov. 9. PPL will be closed all day that day for staff training.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work toward a simpler and improved operating system.

See you at the library!
