Drainage Board opens maintenanc­e bids

MARSHALL COUNTY — Bids for three drainage maintenanc­e projects were opened at the November meeting of the Marshall County Drainage Board.

The first was for the William Myers ditch located in Green Township. The scope of the work includes beginning at the confluence of the William Myers and the Argos Town ditches. The work then proceeds upstream approximat­ely 8,850 feet with the west leg ending on a fence line that runs east-west. The east leg then ends on west side of Kenilworth Road. As per the bid, the ditch has sufficient fall and the only cleaning needed to be done is at the bottom which entails the removal of grass and islands. Also included in the scope of work include: hooks would also be removed and align the channel in certain spots, debrushing in agricultur­al areas, and burn and bury/shred and mulch all woody materials.

There were three bids submitted for this first project. Those bids were: Beaver Excavating for $8,000, LDP Excavating for $24,350, and

Langfeldt Excavating for $11,505. The board awarded the bid to Beaver Excavating.

The second project bid was maintenanc­e on the Fletcher Ditch. The ditch is located in Walnut Township. The scope of the work includes starting at the south right-of-way of SR 10 and proceeds 3,650 feet upstream to the north right-of-way line of 17th Road. As per the bid, the ditch has sufficient fall and the only cleaning needed to be done is at the bottom which entails the removal of grass and islands. Also included in the scope of work include: hooks would also be removed and align the channel in certain spots, debrushing in agricultur­al areas, and burn and bury/ shred and mulch all woody materials.

There were three bids submitted for this first project. Those bids were: Beaver Excavating for $4,500, LDP Excavating for $6,600, and Langfeldt Excavating for $5,610. The board awarded the bid to Beaver Excavating.

The last project bid out was the Charles Pfiefer and Deamer Arm Ditch. The ditch is located in Walnut Township. The scope of the work includes starting at the south rightof-way of 18th Road, cleaning to the original bottom. The project includes 4,730 feet of the Charles Pfiefer Ditch and 370 feet of the Deamer Arm open ditch. Also included in the scope of work include: debrush agricultur­e areas to cultivated line, debrush to the top of the bank in wooded areas, burn and bury/ shred and mulch all woody materials.

There were three bids submitted for this first project. Those bids were: Beaver Excavating for $3,000, LDP Excavating for $3,950, and Langfeldt Excavating for $4,015. The board awarded the bid to Beaver Excavating.
