12 days of Christmas shopping

- Content provided

A New Idea! Before COVID caused us to cancel the fundraiser for Operation Quiet Comfort last April we had already collected some really nice auction items from our very generous community. For months now we have been trying to figure out what to do with those items. We finally have an idea that will work.

We finished filling and packing approximately 2100 Christmas stockings for our

troops and shipped them just before Thanksgiving. That left space in our building to display those donated items and have a “12 Days of Christmas Shopping” event from Dec. 4-15 . You can call for a “personal shopping appointment”. Items will be priced so you can make your donation and take it with you. However, if you feel it is more than you are willing to spend at that moment you can write your “best offer” on a slip of paper and seal it in an envelope. At the end of the day on Dec. 15 we will open the envelopes of any items that have not been purchased and contact the person that made the best offer.

All money from the donated items will go to Operation: Quiet Comfort. We have been blessed to receive many monetary donations for our Holiday Project, but our goal is to continue shipping 20-30 care packages every month. Our troops don’t quit serving our country after the holidays.

If you have anything you would like to donate to this shopping event please contact me at janh@operationquietcomfort.com or call 574-9361424. Look for pictures of the items on our Facebook page. You will find knit items, quilts, tools, home décor and more. There is also a leather power recliner donated by Bailey’s Discount Center. Big and small, there’s something for all. Find the right gift for someone on your Christmas list or take home something for yourself.

You can even share this with out of town friends. They can look at pictures of the items on our Facebook page: Operation Quiet Comfort. If there is something they are interested in, they can contact me for the price and purchase it or place an offer on that item. (We will request that they pay shipping if it is out of town.) If you are local, we will consider delivery.

Remember, this is NOT an auction. You will have the opportunity to pay the price listed for that item or place your “one time” best offer. It will be a sealed bid only opened if that item did not sell. In that case you will be contacted if you make the highest offer.

Because you will be scheduling your personal shopping appointment there is no fear of large crowds. Of course, the sooner you schedule your appointment, the better selection of things to choose from. If you have any questions; wish to donate an item; or want to make an offer please contact Jan at 574-936-1424 or janh@operationquietcomfort.com. Keep checking Operation Quiet Comfort on Facebook for pictures of items for sale.

Let’s be sure our troops know all year round that they are not forgotten and a grateful nation truly cares.
