Marshall County Sheriff’s Department hosts ILEA training
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department hosted a forty (40) hour Indiana Law Enforcement academy (ILEA) training last week.
Steve Vanderaa, a current ancilla College Instructor and retired State Police Officer facilitated the training.
Marshall County Sheriff Matthew Hassel, Director of Programs Joshua Pitts, Chief Deputy Prosecuting attorney Tami Napier and Deputy Prosecuting attorney Nicholas Langowski provided guest instruction to speak on their specialty.
Sheriff Hassel spoke on Ethics and Pitts spoke on
Mental Health and Substance Abuse and inmates.
The event was open to surrounding counties. Five (5) jailers from Marshall County and four (4) jailers from Pulaski County also attended the event.
The November 2020 Marshall County Jail report reflected an inmate population of one hundred and fifty one (151) as of Friday, Dec. 4.
Of that total, 13 inmates were being held on misdemeanor charges leaving 138 of that population being held for felony charges.
There were forty eight (48) inmates sentenced in November, and one hundred (100) inmates being held pre-trial.
The average population for the month of November was 166.4; compared to an average population of 151.6 in May of 2020, and an average of 272 for November of 2019.
Thirteen inmates were booked from Nov. 1 to Nov. 7. 14 inmates were books from Nov. 8 to Nov. 14. Eighteen inmates were booked from
Nov. 15 to Nov. 21.
Seventeen Inmates were booked from Nov. 22 to Nov. 28.
1,289 active warrants were reported.
