Bremen sweeps Clay

SOUTH BEND - The Bremen boys defeated South Bend Clay, 102-47, at the Clay Aquatics Center on Tuesday, while the Lady Lions also won, 112-59.

Notable individual­s for the boys were senior Jacob Fish, juniors Al Byrd and James Wordleman, and sophomores Kody Zbieranski and Keegan Miller. Fish placed 1st in the 500 Free, improving his time by six seconds (6:14.06). Byrd took 1st place in Diving (163.5) and 1st place in the 100 Fly, smashing his Personal Record (PR) by more than two seconds ( 1: 05.62). Wordleman placed 1st in the 100 Free, breaking his PR by two seconds (58.50). Zbieranski placed 4th in the 200 IM, improving his time by four seconds ( 3: 11.74). Finally, Miller swam his first 500 Free of the season, finishing neckand-neck with Fish in a time of 6:14.41.

Notable individual­s for the girls were junior Sophia Freehauf and freshmen Addie Stine, Sylvia Meyer, and Lexi Cannon. Freehauf placed 3rd in the 100 Breast, breaking her Personal Record (PR) by 2.5 seconds (1:38.00). Stine placed 4th in the 500 Free, shattering her best time by more than 10 seconds (8:40.41). Meyer placed 2nd in the 100 Free, improving her time by more than a second (1:07.59). Cannon placed 3rd in the 200 IM, breaking her PR by 11 seconds (3:26.66).She also placed 1st in the 100 Fly with a time of 1:32.72, a one second improvemen­t.

The Lady Lions swept the 50 Free and 100 Free. Kaia Podlin (26.16), Meyer (29.69), and Lauren Miller (30.42) finished in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places respective­ly in the 50, while Audrey Sands ( 1: 04.10), Meyer (1:07.59), and Miller (1:08.37) did the same in the 100. Finally, the Lady Lions’ 400 Free Relay team came back to defeat the Colonials in a tight race.
