Ruth E. Wathen

Ruth E. (Williams) Wathen, born July 30, 1931, passed away Dec. 6, following an illness.

Ruth is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 68 years, Herbert Wathen of Plymouth and her eight beloved children: Stephen (Christine) Wathen, San Antonio, Texas; Nancy Mitchell, Plymouth; Robert (Jennifer) Wathen, Portage; Marybeth Colvin, Indianapol­is; Margaret Anne (Glenn) Peters, Valparaiso; Theresa (Tom) Doppler, Plymouth; Lorraine (Ryan) Anderson, Stillwater, Okla.; and Cheryl (John) Sepulveda, Scherervil­le. She is also survived by her brother John (Dawn) Williams, Mentone, and sister Diana (Tim) Twiss, Ft. Wayne.

Ruth also leaves a legacy of love and laughter to her grandchild­ren: Leeanne Peters, Joseph (Jessica) Peters, Andrew (Renee) Sertich, Adam (Laura) Sertich, Hayley (Rick Jimenez) Itczak, Tom (Ashley) Doppler, Travis (Brittany) Doppler, Jemai Kennedy, Sarah (Cody) Davidson, Emily Wathen, Leah and Reed Sepulveda; as well as great-grandchild­ren: Savana, Rylan, Ricky and Cristian Jimenez, Arden Peters and Aria Sertich.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Walter “Butch” Williams, Jr., and sisters, Carolyn Jean Wintrode and Mary Lee Rudd, as well as sons-in-law, Richard Mitchell and Lea Colvin.

Ruth devoted her life to her family. She and Herb were a perfect example of love and devotion. Ruth loved being with her children, grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren; playing games, reading and cooking. She took great joy in everything they did. Her brother and sisters were her best friends and greatest supporters. Family was everything.

She gave us a lifetime of memories deeply rooted in love, faith, family and laughter. She will be so greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

As much as we wish to celebrate her life with family and friends, we acknowledg­e the unpreceden­ted times we live in today. We hope to have a Memorial Service to honor her memory in the not-to-distant future.
