Lowell L. Lemler

January 31, 1943 - December 9, 2020

Lowell L. Lemler, 77, of Bourbon passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Dec. 9, in an auto accident. Lowell was born Jan. 31, 1943 in Bourbon, to the late Harold Lemler and Ruth (Sechrist) Lemler and was a lifelong resident of Bourbon. He graduated from Bourbon High School in 1962, where he participated in sports.

Lowell married his wife, Nancy (Smith) Lemler on April 21, 1963, and they had five children. Lowell was a farmer and worked in excavation with Koontz and King Excavation for many years., until he started his own business, Lemler & Sons Backhoe Services, with his son, Jamey Lemler.

Lowell was a devoted member of his church, and served as Deacon, usher, and greeter for many years. He was always the first one in, the last one out, and there anytime the doors opened. He lived to serve his community.

Lowell knew no strangers. Those who knew him remember him for his warm smile and kind heart. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, cheering for Triton sports, attending Southern Gospel music concerts, and being outside – enjoying nature. He enjoyed many trips to northern Michigan and southern Indiana to hunt for mushrooms in the spring and enjoy the beauty of fall leaves.

Lowell leaves behind a legacy of hard work, generosity, and compassion. He was always looking for ways to help someone else and would give the shirt off his back – even if it was the last thing he owned. He will be greatly missed, but we rejoice in knowing that he is with his Heavenly Father, and we will see him again someday. “Then the King will say to those on his right, “Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink. I was a stranger and you invited me in. I needed clothes and you clothed me. I was sick and you looked after me. I was in prison and you came to visit me.’” Matthew 25:34-36

Lowell is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: June Klotz and Peg Briney, and three brothers: Kenneth Lemler, Lamar Lemler, and Richard Lemler. He is survived by his brother Chester Lemler, brother Dennis Lemler, wife Nancy (Smith) Lemler, son Robert (Lori) Lemler, son Jamey Lemler, daughter Brenda (Jay) Leeka, son David Lemler, and daughter Coreen (Jason) Todd, eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made out to the donor’s choice. A private graveside service will be held Monday at the Sandridge Cemetery.
