Nancy L. Carmichael

PLYMOUTH – Nancy L. Carmichael of Plymouth, formerly of Koontz Lake, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 9 in Memorial Hospital, South Bend following a sudden illness. She was born on July 25, 1945 in Melrose Park, Ill. to the late Leslie and Viola (Terrel) David and was 75 years-old at the time of her death.

On Oct. 3, 1964 in Berkeley, Ill. she married the love of her life, Robert N. Carmichael who preceded her death in 2016. Together they shared 51 years wonderful years together. Nancy was a retired English, Sociology, and Psychology Teacher at OregonDavi­s High School for many years, where she dramatical­ly effected so many young lives in the most positive way. She was widely known as many kids’ favorite teacher. She was the varsity Girls’ Basketball Coach for the Lady Cats and was a member of the Church of the Brethren in Plymouth. Most of all Nancy was a family first lady who cherished her kids and grandkids deeply.

Nancy is survived by three children Rhonda (Jim) Scurek of Colorado Springs, CO, Robert L. (Carrie) Carmichael of Plymouth, and Robyn (Tex) Keller of Plymouth; seven grandchild­ren Cameron, Kelsey, Sophia, Mason, Scott, Ryan, and Bryce; one sister Barbara (Ron) Richter of Colorado Springs, CO; and one brother Richard (Edith) David of Tacoma, WA. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband.

It was Nancy’s wishes to be cremated. Because of all the limitation­s and requiremen­ts with the Covid-19 pandemic a Celebratio­n of Life Service will be held in the spring so the many people who loved Nancy can come and pay their respects.
