Plymouth’s German headed to Cornerstone Univ.

PLYMOUTH - Plymouth High School senior volleyball standout Miranda German has made her college choice as she announced on Wednesday that she will be attending Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
For German, who was a four-year letter winner for the Lady Pilgrims, it’s the culmination of a lot of hard work over a lot of years.
“It feels awesome when you work really hard for something,” said German. “I’ve been working since I was in the fourth grade hoping that I could play in college like my sister (who played at Trine University).”
Cornerstone became a fit for the Plymouth senior right away.
“The first thing was the volleyball program and they also have a very good program for marketing,” said German. “The campus was very beautiful. I got a chance to meet some of the girls on the team and Coach (Megan) Lenhart. She made me feel like it was home and all the girls were very welcoming.”
“She is a dynamic player, an excellent leader and a driven athlete,” said Plymouth HS head volleyball coach Jon Hutton. “Her competitive nature is second to none on our team. At practice, I enjoyed her ability to be focused and to want to go faster and farther.”
“I can’t be more excited. She is our first commitment of 2021,” said Cornerstone head coach Megan Lenhart. “I know that she will bring so much to the program and help us do some really great things in the next four years.”
“In college, I will probably be an outside hitter,” said German. “I just want to work hard and earn my spot just like I had to in high school.”
This season Miranda was Plymouth’s captain, won first-team ALL-NLC honors for a third straight year, and was team MVP for a second straight year, posting team-best numbers in kills, aces, digs, and serve receive.
She is the Plymouth school-record holder for serving aces in a single season with 59. For her high school career, she had 828 digs, 756 kills, and 162 service aces.
“One thing I will always remember is playing at Warsaw for the conference title when I was a sophomore and being all-conference that year,” said Miranda.
“I think I would want people to think of me as a hard worker and a good leader,” she said. “I feel I have patience and always tried to lead on the floor and help the younger players with their work ethic.”
