Sally Ann Unsicker

Sally Ann Unsicker, age 84 of Mishawaka, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 2:05 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 26, at St.

Joseph Hospital, Mishawaka.

She was born on March 16,

1936 in South Bend to Adin T. and Edith L. (Stack) Chidister.

Mrs. Unsicker graduated from

Bremen High School in 1954 and also attended Indiana

University and San Francisco

State University, where she received her teaching degree. Sally moved to

California when her family was young and returned to Indiana in 1979.

Sally married Roy J. Garlit Jr. on June 16, 1956 in South Bend. He preceded her in death on July 24, 1991.

On Feb. 14, 1982 she married James R. Unsicker in Osceola. He preceded her in death on Feb. 27, 2006.

Mrs. Unsicker was a school teacher at Potter Valley High School in California as well as the Regional Occupation­al Center in Ukiah, Calif. Upon returning to Indiana Sally was an instructor of business and English at Ivy Tech in South Bend, and also worked as an executive secretary at St. Joseph Valley Bank in South Bend.

Sally Ann was a loving mother, grandmothe­r, and great grandmothe­r. She was a seamstress, a wedding cake baker and caterer. She was a quilter, enjoyed crocheting, and was a traveler of the United States. She had served as a Boy Scout Den mother and was a 4H leader in Potter Valley, Calif. Later in life Sally became an avid Notre Dame fan.

Sally is survived by a son, Michael (Nancy) Garlit of Steelevill­e, Ill.; three daughters, Lorraine Branum of Granger; Sheryl ( Ron) Walsh of South Bend; Susan (Patrick) Cox of Plymouth; eight grandchild­ren, Jayson Wright of Terre Haute; Kenneth ( Fiancée Ashleigh Trujillo) Garlit of Waterloo, Ill; Shannon (Anthony) Mercedes of Plainfield; Jerry Maurer of Granger; Steven (Tracey) Walsh of South Bend; Lindsey Walsh of South Bend; Darin (Lindsay) Cox of Plymouth; Nicole (Fiancée Tony Carlo) Cox of O’fallon, MO; eight great grandchild­ren, Olivia Maurer, Felicity Mercedes, Roman Mercedes, Haylee Walsh, R.J. Walsh, Chloey Cox, Emmerson Cox and Lucca Carlo; and one sister, Patricia (William) Hupp of Mishawaka.

Sally was preceded in death by her parents, Adin and Edith Chidister; her two husbands, Roy Garlit and James Unsicker; an infant daughter Angela Garlit; and a brother Jack Chidister.

Friends and family may call from noon-2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, at Cornerston­e Community Fellowship, 1375 Maple Rd, Plymouth, with funeral services following at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, also at Cornerston­e Community Fellowship, Plymouth. Pastor Steve Cox will officiate and burial will take place at St. Joe Valley Park Cemetery in Granger.

Memorial contributi­ons in Sally’s name can be given to Cornerston­e Community Fellowship.

Mary Ann Wallace (Schaal) passed away on Saturday,

Dec. 26.

Born in Plymouth on Nov.

9, 1953 she was the daughter of Ralph and Rula (June)

Schaal.

Mary attended Plymouth High

School graduating with the class of 1972.

On July 7, 2018 she married

Stephen Wallace in Plymouth.

She worked for 3M or AO Safety from 1987 to 2008. Before being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis she was a very energetic woman, and enjoyed taking part in her children’s school activities and extra-curricular activities. Mary would often join on band trips and take part Boy Scout activities, school trips and was a classroom Room Mother being active in the PTO, where she served as president for many years. She was also involved with the Union. She loved to garden, making crafts, loved the beach, and would take a lot of day trips to zoos, museums and amusement parks with her kids, bowling and sewing. She was known for being one of the most caring and giving people who loved to spend time with her family and friends, especially her grandchild­ren.

She is survived by her husband Stephen Wallace of Plymouth; children, Kara (Andy) Crippen of Plymouth; Andy (Heather) High of Plymouth; sisters: Rose (Phil) Calvert of Muncie; Karen Holdread of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; and Diane (Hal) Scott of Etna Green; grandchild­ren: Alexis, Chance, Calli, Addison, Grayson, Amelia and Hudson. As well as her nieces and nephew.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law Steve Holdread.

A graveside service will take place in the New Oak Hill Cemetery at a later date.
