Johnnie W. Smith

Johnnie W. Smith, age 74, passed away on Dec. 31, 2020 at Vibra Hospital in Crown Point, Indiana.

Johnnie was born the son of Walter and Lula Mae Wallace (Nitcher) Smith on Dec. 27, 1946 in Plymouth, and was a lifelong resident of the area. He studied electronic­s as a young man. He proudly served his country as a Marine during the Vietnam War from 1964-1968. On April 7, 1976, Johnnie married the love of his life, Claudia Culp. He worked at Wirecraft for several years, retiring in 1997. During his free time, he enjoyed woodworkin­g, and his Mustang car collection.

Those who will miss Johnnie are his wife, Claudia, daughter Erica (Paul) Fulmer from Centre, Alabama, sons Guy Smith (Candy Perkins) of Bremen, Johnnie W. Smith, Jr. of Arassa Pass, Texas, Ronald E. (Jennifer) White of Bristol, along with 10 grandchild­ren and five great-grandchild­ren. Also missing him are his sisters, Margie (Duane) Everly of Plymouth, Jackie (Michael) Overmyer of Bremen, Sherri Smith of Chicago, and brothers, Sherman Ray (Esther) Pritchett of Plymouth, Jeff Pritchett of Rochester, and aunt Virginia Spencer of Plymouth.

Johnnie is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Jessica Elmore, sisters Lorraine, Jenny and Betty, and brothers Kenneth and Glenn.

In accordance with the family’s wishes, cremation services will be provided.

Memorials may be made out to help defray the final expenses.
