Laville’s Medors headed to IWU

- STAFF REPORT

LAKEVILLE – Laville High School senior Allison Medors has signed to continue her academic and athletic career at Indiana Wesleyan University.

“I started my recruiting process by simply emailing different colleges and finding which schools interested me,” Medors said in an interview for Laville’s athletic website. “After that, I participated in some scouting camps that had multiple schools attending and once I became more interested in IWU I attended multiple camps there to learn more about the team, the school, and get to know the coaching staff and players better. The camps were really fun and I loved getting to meet some of the players on the team and learning more about the softball program from their insider perspective. It only made me love IWU more! I then went on an official campus visit and was just even more convinced that was where I belonged. It was great to see how accepting the school was and how important and how strong a sense of community and faith is to everyone.”

Medors plans to major in biology with hopes of going to med school.

Heading into her final prep season at Laville, Medors is a career .397 hitter. She was an Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association (ICGSA) second-team all-state selection as a sophomore when she batted .410 with 35 RBIS and four home runs. She is also a two-time unanimous All-hoosier North Athletic Conference first-team selection.

“It is still sinking in that I have the opportunity to play in college, but also that I will be playing with such an amazing team under the guidance of such amazing coaches,” Medors added. “I am beyond thankful for the opportunity to play at IWU and for all of the people who have helped me get to this point. My parents have always had a huge impact on me as a person and an athlete. They always encouraged me to keep working hard to achieve my goals and not stop until I reach them. All of my high school and travel coaches have taught me so many valuable lessons and helped me become the athlete I am today. They have taught me to take every opportunity to get better. I am so excited to see what the future holds for me and my future team. GO WILDCATS!”
