Bremen’s Lawmaster named Distinguished Young Woman
Despite the program being fully virtual, the annual Distinguished Young Women of Indiana ceremony had the same high energy as always — and Bremen’s Kelsey Lawmaster came out on top.
“there are no words to describe how incredibly proud we are of the Distinguished Young Women of Indiana — Bremen’s own Kelsey Lawmaster,” said DYW of Bremen organizers. “She is smart, focused, talented, kind and ready to rock the world! We love you Kelsey!”
Lawmaster competed in this year’s program with a musical theater performance of “In My Life” from “Les Misérables.”
She plans to attend the University of Mississippi to pursue a career as a government
lawyer.
At Bremen High School, Lawmaster has achieved awards for her work in student media/news, tennis, U.S. history, performing and more.
She actively takes part in several school ventures, including music/drama, student council, DECA, National Honor Society, student news, intramural basketball and tennis as a player and manager.
As well as holding a job bat Dairy Queen, she volunteers with Adopt-a-highway cleanup, the Grace Food Pantry, Feed My Starving Children and the Bremen Holy Walk, and acts as a youth representative for Marshall County Stellar.
Also competing among the 10 state finalists was Northwood’s Regan Koble. Koble was named the overall winner for the Fitness portion.
Her talent for the competition was dance to the song “Half Light” by BANNERS.
Koble plans to pursue a career as a professional photographer in public relations marketing after attending Taylor University.
Lawmaster is taking over the position from previous year ’s winner Grace Knolinski of Howard County.
