Marshall County remains Blue

INDIANA — after maintainin­g a Blue metric score for the required two consecutiv­e weeks, Marshall County has been shifted to the Blue advisory Level, meaning that regulation­s have been adjusted.

By moving to a Blue advisory Status, social gatherings in Marshall County are permitted to have up to 250 people present. When held indoors or in an area with another area specified limit, events may not exceed 100 percent of facility capacity.

This week, Starke County remains at the Yellow advisory Level and received a Yellow metric score once again, indicating moderate community spread.

place for any events that are held, regardless of the advisory level status within a particular community.

Changes to the advisory level and metric scores are made on a weekly basis by the Indiana Department of Health.

The IDH also tracks the number of cases and deaths as well as testing informatio­n and positivity rates and includes those details on the COVID-19 Dashboard, which is updated daily at noon ET.

As of Wednesday, March 3, Marshall County’s cumulative case count was at 5,432, an increase of 35 cases since last week. Starke County reported 1,884 total cases since last March, with 20 of those recorded within the last week.

Since the start of the pandemic, 105 Marshall County residents who tested positive for COVID19 have since passed away and 51 Starke County residents who had the disease are now deceased. Since last Wednesday, one new death was recorded in both Marshall and Starke Counties.

Dashboard on March 3rd showed that 23,468 Marshall County residents have been tested for the novel coronaviru­s and 8,534 Starke County residents have been tested. In Starke County, 87 of those tests were recorded within the last week and in Marshall County, results from new 188 were reflected in this week’s data.

Additional­ly, state health officials announced on Wednesday that the eligibilit­y to receive a COVID-19 vaccine has been lowered to allow individual­s 50 and up to receive the shots. Healthcare workers and first responders are also eligible.

Between December 14, 2020 and March 3 2021, 2,809 Starke County residents have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 1,320 have been fully vaccinated. During that same time frame, 6,113 individual­s have received their first dose in Marshall County and 4,135 people have been fully vaccinated.
