This is a follow up to the Feb. 25 announcement of the local STAHL’S Scholarship winners Whitney Alvis and Danielle Mavrick of The Collective @ 120 South Main. More scholarships are being awarded through 2021; there is still time to apply.

MARSHALL COUNTY — After 90 years of providing friendly, reliable customer support to small businesses, the Stahl family wants to share their wealth and knowledge with other small business owners and entrepreneurs. Dan Stahl said, “After 90 years of embracing the entrepreneurial spirit, we have a soft spot for small businesses.”

The Stahl family is awarding a total of 21 Pure Imagination Stahl Small Business Scholarships to entrepreneurs through 2021. Five winners will be selected each quarter of 2021; Danielle Mavrick and Whitney Alvis of The Collective @ 120 South Main in Culver were among recipients in the first quarter.

Mavrick said, “We picked a doozie of a year to start a retail business, but, somehow, despite COVID, we had an outstanding first year in business. We’re excited to be expanding, and this scholarship is just one part of that. We’ve been eyeing our own heat press for awhile now. We’ll be able to create a lot of our current products in house, like our snarky tea towels and tees for social good. Due to this scholarship, we have some great things coming this spring: an expansion of our Cavs Corner, a vintage tee line, and even more gifts with local flair. We have a few more surprises up our sleeves, but we’re just not ready to officially announce those yet. Make sure to keep an eye on us over the next couple of months!”

Stahl’s great grandparents began their garment embellishment business in their garage. The cut felt letters to be applied to garments and baseball caps. That business grew to a global industry today. People have been depleted during this pandemic. We started in a garage. This is a perfect fit

to help people support themselves through this this.”

The Pure Imagination Scholarship includes a full year of individualized coaching from among a team of professional experts at Stahl’s. Scholarship winners receive an A2Z Swing Away Heat Press, start up materials and a marketing kit.

Stahl is particularly enthusiastic about the coaching opportunity. “We are offering 90 years of education, marketing, identifying with customers, and helping them achieve their business goals. We want to help small businesses become successful. We want to help them run a profitable business.”

Stahl contributes their success to the quality of their relationships. “We take care of our staff and our customers. We treat everyone like family.”

Whether an individual has an idea for a business they would like to start, a high school student wants to spread the wings of their entrepreneurial spirit, or a small business owner wants to enhance their already existing business, the Stahl family wants to help individuals achieve their goals to be successful in establishing a custom garment business. The scholarship offers personal coaching, materials and equipment. “We are dedicated to being there for our customers and we are committed to helping them solve their problems.”

The Stahl family is eager to award the scholarships; especially during such a trying year due to the pandemic. Now more than ever they feel their expertise and customer-client focused approach can help individuals succeed.
