Marshall County returns to Yellow
Starke and Marshall Counties swapped places this week when the Indiana Department of Health updated their color-coded county metric map. Based off of the 7-day positivity rate and weekly cases per 100,000 residents, Marshall County has moved back down to a Yellow classification and Starke County was elevated to Blue. a Yellow advisory Level is in place for both counties. If Starke County can maintain the Blue metric classification for a consecutive two weeks, a Blue advisory level will be put in place and restrictions will change.
Since both counties are currently under a Yellow advisory level, the overall size of a social gathering or event should be limited to 100 people and organizers should not exceed 50 percent facility capacity. People are required to follow all other general requirements including maintaining six feet of social distancing and wearing a face covering while around others.
as of Wednesday, March 17, the cumulative case count for Marshall County was at 5,524, with 54 of those cases recorded since last Wednesday. a total of 207 new coronavirus tests for Marshall County residents were reported within the same time frame which brings the total number of Marshall County residents tested since last March
up to 23,878.
The total number of COVID-19 cases in Starke County was up to 1,914 on
Wednesday. Out of those cases, 13 were recorded within the last week. The number of Starke County residents tested since the beginning of the pandemic is 8,735. Out of all of those tests, 93 were reported since last Wednesday.
Within the last week, the deaths of one Starke County resident and one Marshall County resident who had tested positive for the novel coronavirus were recorded on the COVID-19 Dashboard, bringing the total number of deaths in those counties up to 52 and 106, respectively.
Health officials continue to expand vaccine eligibility as more supplies become available. Between Dec. 14, 2020 and March 17, 2021, 2,089 Starke County residents and 5,404 Marshall County residents have been fully vaccinated.
