“I try to cook my food as if I’m cooking it from home. This gives me that option,” - Rob Taylor

If you’ve driven through the streets of downtown Plymouth, you may have noticed a new restaurant on Garro Street across from the Post Office. Rob’s Grill has been there since October 2020. Prior to that, you could find them at stands around the city and the farmers market in Culver.

“I’ve been doing this since I’ve been six,” Owner Rob Taylor said. He said that in 2004 he had a store in Fort Wayne, but when he moved to Marshall

County he was working in a different career. When the pandemic hit, Rob lost his job.

“So, I went back to doing what I do best and that’s cooking,” he said.

According to Rob, it just so happened that the 121 W. Garro Street location opened up. “We were doing the Ready Mart and Susan next door came up and talked to us a little bit. We were looking for buildings around Plymouth. This came and we just decided to try it…i think God kind of blessed us and led us on the path.”

By establishing a physical location, Rob’s Grill can offer dine-in service along with curbside, carry-out and delivery through EZ Run.

“We’re able to give more variety of foods being inside. It’s given me a chance to show what I can do and so far the feedback has been marvelous,” he said.

He also added that being in a fixed location, they can interact with customers more and get to know them better. “I try to cook my food as if I’m cooking it from home. This gives me that option.”

Rob said that in the near future he is looking to add beer and wine to the menu.

They are open Thursday through Saturday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.they sell BBQ dinners and catering. Their menu includes quarter/half/full rack of ribs, rib tips, chicken, pulled pork, brisket, and a variety of sides.

“A lot of people are going toward the rib tips and the sauce. Everybody loves the sauce. We have our own signature sauce,” Rob said when asked what is a popular menu item. “As far as sides, the pineapple coleslaw seems to be a big hit.”
