Bremen opens with Cougars

BREMEN — After waiting more than a year to compete, the Bremen Lions hosted New Prairie in the first home meet since before the COVID shutdown of a year ago taking a loss 72-59. The Bremen girls fell 99-31.

The Lions will travel to Goshen High School next Tuesday to face Goshen and Lakeland. The meet starts at 5 p.m. There are no spectator number restrictio­ns but masks and distancing are required.

Boys track

Bremen senior Brady Ginter had a standout performanc­e finishing first in all four of his events on the evening.

First place finishers were:

4x800 relay team of Jacob Fish, Keegan Miller, Aaron Douglass, and Lextin Willis; Brady Ginter in the long jump and 100 dash, 4x100 relay of Lennin Diaz, Jesse Wisler, Nathan Andrews, and Brady Ginter; Noah Wagers in the 400 dash, Nathan Andrews in the 300 hurdles, Lennin Diaz in the 200 dash, 4x400 relay of James Wordleman, Jesse Wisler, Noah Wagers, and Brady Ginter.

Second place finishers were:

James Wordleman in the shot, Nathan Andrews in 110 hurdles, Lennin Diaz in the 200

dash, Lextin Willis in the 800-meter run. Third-place finishers were:

Jesse Wisler in the pole vault and long jump, Caleb Cullers in the high jump, Noah Wagers in the 100 dash, Lextin Willis in the 1600 meter run.

Girls track

For the girls several surprise performanc­es in new events highlighte­d the evening as the girls showed great determinat­ion and toughness.

First-place finishers were:

Zoey France in the long jump and Lauren Miller in the shot put.

Second place finishers were:

Lydia Stamm in the long jump, Zoey France in the discus, Maddy Youngman in the 100 and 300 hurdles, Hallie Klockow in the 400-meter dash.

Third-place finishers were:

Madison Gale in the discus, Raven White in the pole vault and the 200-meter dash, Audrey Sands in the 800-meter run, Selena Martinez in the 3200-meter run.
