Stop and Shop
Plans are well underway for “Celebrate & Support Our Troops Stop and Shop” to benefit Operation: Quiet Comfort. It is happening at the Knights of Columbus Hall here in Plymouth this week.
This event will take place Wednesday April 14 from 4 to 8 p.m. and continue Thursday April 15 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. EDT. Stop in any time during those hours. If you absolutely can’t make it, you can call in during those hours to buy or bid 574-948-1321.
They have over 100 items from beautiful cozy quilts, plane rides for the more adventurous, tools, oil changes, dining certificates, jewelry, home décor and more. You can find many of these items pictured on the Operation: Quiet Comfort Facebook page. Pictures just can’t do justice to some of the unique and beautiful items, so come and see for yourself what this generous community has donated.
Here is the plan: They will have all items set up at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Plymouth. Each item will have a “Buy it Now” priceso you can make your donation and take it with you. If you do not want to pay the listed price, you may place a sealed bid with your best offer and at the end of the event, we will open the bids of any items that are left and contact the highest bidder.
In the past the fundraiser consisted of a meal with pie for dessert. This year for a small donation you can enjoy a piece of Carol Blake’s pie while shopping, take a piece or two home with you, or even a whole pie!
There is also the opportunity to advertise your business by being a sponsor. For a $100 donation they will post your business at the event, on the OQC Facebook page, website, and on-line newsletter.
Operation: Quiet Comfort is a 501(c)(3) that supports our U.S. Armed Forces men and women who have been injured while serving in harm’s way and provides much needed emotional and moral support to those serving far from home. This is done by sending care packages consisting of hygiene items, snacks, and cards with messages from people across the country letting our troops know that a grateful nation truly cares. Operation: Quiet Comfort is 100% volunteer. It is a national organization with all the packing and shipping happening here in Plymouth.
