Lady Trojans take starting line today

BOURBON — the triton High School girls track team opens the season with a bang today as it is the only home meet of the spring and will also serve as Senior Night.

“We have had a great, but extremely long off season,” said head coach Jeremy May. “We are really looking forward to the chance to compete in a real meet!”

the team has three seniors competing in multiple events. the upperclass­men are: Abbey Viers (shot put, discus, high jump),

Jaela Faulkner (pole vault, 400, 4x100 relay, 4x400 relay) and Anela Hill (high jump, 100 hurdles, 100, 300 hurdles).

“We have a lot of senior leadership,” added May. “I’m looking forward to a very competitiv­e season. this is a very hard working group of girls. We should be very competitiv­e within our conference and we have multiple athletes that have a legitimate chance to make it out of sectionals.”

Also in the mix are juniors Makenna May (pole vault, 4x100 relay, 300 hurdles, 4x400 relay), Valerie Eib (400, 4x800) and tayla Lynd (discus), sophomores Kinsey Atkins (long jump, 100, 200, 4x100 relay), Anna Mcintyre (400, 800, 4x800 relay), Lilee Stetzel (100 hurdles, 100, 200) and

Justice Kieninger (discus), as well as freshmen Jocelynn Faulkner (800,1600, 4x400 relay), Ciara Privett (long jump, 200, 4x400 relay), Addyson Viers (shot put, discus, high jump) and Jez Lemler (400, manager).

the Lady trojans’ schedule is highlighte­d by two large meets: the Warrior Relays (at North Miami HS April 23) and the Kouts Invitation­al (May 1).
