Rose Marie Woodke

On May 11, 2021, Rose Marie Woodke joined her husband Phillip and her sons Bryon and Bart in Heaven.
She leaves behind to honor her memory her son, Bret (Dianne) Woodke of Naples, Fla. Also surviving are her brothers, Mike (Joyce) Malast of Indianapolis, John (Bonnie) Malast of Fountain Valley, California, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins, whom she dearly loved.
After Rose raised her three boys, she determined to become ordained in the Methodist church. With her tenacious spirit in full gear, she did just that. In her career, she served in Lacrosse, Tyner, Brook, Grovertown and Hamlet.
During her golden years, she worked for the Grovertown Post Office and made many lasting friendships there.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Plymouth and the Hamlet Lions Club. She had the honor of becoming the first woman Chaplain for the Indiana State Police. As a Chaplain, Rose blessed many with her counseling gift and was deeply respected by her peers.
In her spare time, Rose loved to journal sermons, work, word search puzzles, and was a voracious reader. She also loved Classical music, along with some Blue Grass now and then. Rose was a faithful volunteer for the WVPE telethons in Elkhart, and supported many charitable organizations.
Friends are invited to gather with the family at the Tyner United Methodist Church, 4501 French Street, Tyner, on June 19 at 11 a.m. EST for a memorial service in her honor. A luncheon consisting od Rose’s favorite foods will be served in the fellowship hall immediately after the service.
