Heartland Artist Gallery opens its doors to OBOC bookclub

-

Every Tuesday, the One Book, One City (OBOC) bookclub meets at the Plymouth Public Library to discuss a new chapter in the OBOC’S chosen title, “This is Where You

Belong: Finding Home Wherever You Are” written by Melody Warnick.

For the chapter titled “Being Creative,” the bookclub was fortunate enough to visit Heartland Artist Gallery and learn more about what goes on inside the gallery. Heartland Artist Gallery President Anna Kietzman and Vice President/ Director of Membership Jon Miller gave the bookclub a tour around the gallery.

Located at 101 N. Michigan Street in downtown Plymouth, Heartland Artist Gallery works to promote the art experience by showing the works of local artists and holding art shows every month. The gallery also works with inmates inside the County Jail through the Jail Chemical Addiction Program (JCAP).

Heartland Artist Gallery is part of the OBOC initiative and has asked the community to create something by asking them to express, in artwork, what home means to them. Residents of Marshall County has submitted artwork to the gallery for HOME: A Community-wide Pop-up Art Exhibit by the Residents of Marshall County.

If you would like to visit and view the exhibit and all the other wonderful pieces of local artwork, stop by the gallery anytime from Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. till 4 p.m.

If you can’t make it to the gallery, make sure to visit River Park Square on Saturday, June 26 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The artwork will be on display during the OBOC’S block party event.

Next Tuesday, the bookclub will be having another special session over at the Rees Theater with Randy Danielson. On Tuesday, June 29 the bookclub will conclude with a Zoom session with author Melody Warnick. PPL Director Steven Buras will join the bookclub as well.
