PLYMOUTH — On Saturday, June 12, Hybrid Combat Club hosted the inaugural event for its new grappling promotion, Valhalla Grappling Series. The event was held at Plymouth High School and all proceeds went to fund the Rockie Wrestling Club. Valhalla Grappling Series is a submission only grappling event where fighters are matched up based on size and skill level and can only win by forcing their opponent to submit.

Of the 25 total matches, 17 included members of the bulldog Fight Team from Hybrid Combat Club and its affiliate gym. Four of owner Travis Smith’s children and his wife competed in the event and the family walked away with four victories and two losses. The bulldog Fight team secured 12 total victories including the much anticipated main event between local favorite Ricky Miller and Logan Weiler, a black belt from Shadowhouse Jiu-jistu. Neither competitor was able to secure a submission during the 10 minute match. The match went into a three minute overtime where the first person to score a point wins. Miller won by scoring a point via a sweep with just 30 seconds left in the match.

The bulldogs brought an exciting crowd and many exciting fighters to Valhalla making for a fun and entertaining event. Smith said the first Valhalla Grappling Series was a success and told his team “This is the greatest thing I’ve done in my life.” Smith plans to host a second Valhalla event in august or September.
