Are you ready for some (summer) football?

Now this is camping

Running, catching, tackling and more tackling were taking place at the Glenn football camp held at the high school. Pictured here are some of the campers participating in a few of the various activities.

of basketball, as demonstrated by the amount of time, effort, money, and heart he put into coaching,” said Duncan’s daughter Tai. “Family vacations were usually sightseeing in between basketball tournaments. Summer break was full of open gyms, summer league, one-on-one games in the driveway, and weekend tournaments. I would often fall asleep to the sound of whistles and sneakers squeaking on a gym floor as he would watch game film late into the night. To say that he did it for the love of the game is 100 percent accurate.”

Lindsay (Houin) Rogers is another that played for Duncan and then was part of the Plymouth coaching staff after returning to teach at Plymouth.

“Dunc sacrificed many things over the last 29 years to build one of the best girls basketball programs in the state of Indiana,” she said. “From building a reputable outdoor summer league (alongside Dave Cox) that brought in hundreds of basketball players over the years to the two-state tournament basketball runs that he played a vital role in.”

“Dunc is a remarkable coach,” she said. “Many may not know the time and effort he put into every practice and into the preparation of every game. He wanted his players prepared, and he wasn’t going to sleep until he was ready for the next game. But it wasn’t always about the game for him. It was about his players. He truly cared for them as young ladies more than game. Dunc, you will truly be missed. Your successor has big shoes to fill in more ways than one.”

Lindsay Janus a graduate this spring and co-salutatorian of her class, was also inspired by her head coach.

“I was very fortunate to be able to play for Coach Duncan for four years, with the pinnacle being winning the 2019 4A sectional championship,” she said. “Coach Duncan always pushed his players to be the best they could possibly be, both on and off the court. I’ll always be able to look back on my time with Plymouth girls basketball with pride knowing what Coach Duncan has done for me and all of the others he has positively influenced over the years.”

Duncan’s daughter Corey also had a dual role in the program as a player and later as Duncan’s assistant at Plymouth. For her, Dad’s retirement is sort of bittersweet.

“The announcement made for a very sad day for the Lady Pilgrim basketball program,” she said. “The ending of an era that started when I was in eighth grade. My dad deserves the best in retirement because he devoted a ton of his personal time and he has touched a ton of players’ lives. He did it the right way and was my mentor and biggest supporter throughout my playing and coaching career.”
