Lorraine Adele “Peggy” Beyler

Lorraine A. “Peggy” Beyler, of South Bend, passed away quietly into the presence of her Lord and Savior early Friday morning, Oct. 22, at Cottage Gardens in Goshen.

She was born Jan. 7, 1931 in Waukegan, Ill., a daughter of the late Lyle & Mary Grace (Wheelock) Bicket.

While attending Bob Jones University, she met a young handsome man sitting next to her in chapel by the name of Bob Beyler. That began what was more than a 65year romance between them. On June 11, 1955 in Zion, Ill., she and Robert L. Beyler were united in marriage. Bob passed away on March 24, 2020. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Marguerite, who died as a baby, and Joan Borth who passed away in December 2020.

Peggy is survived by her three daughters, Barbara (Steve) Kouba of Abilene, Texas; Bev (Tim) Wagnerowsk­i of Elkhart; and Brenda (Jason) Dunn of Plano, Texas; and her two sons, Bruce (Michelle) Beyler of Elkhart; and Brian (Sheri) Beyler of Eureka Springs, Ark. Also surviving are 15 grandchild­ren and 19 great grandchild­ren.

Peggy was an active member of Gospel Center Missionary Church, where she and Bob were active with the “Young at Heart”, Awana, funeral dinners, and helped to maintain the church library. Through the years, she was active in Child Evangelism, and assisting Bob as a pastor’s wife in any way she was able.

She retired as a Retail Salesperso­n with Bethel Publishing Company and Bethel Bookstore.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, at Gospel Center Missionary Church, South Bend, with Pastor Jon Ranous officiatin­g. Graveside services and burial will follow at Bremen Cemetery, Bremen. The family will receive friends from 4 – 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Palmer Funeral Home-guisinger Chapel, 3718 So. Michigan St., South Bend, and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the Church.
