The First United Methodist Church

PLYMOUTH - It’s time for you to join us in church as we are looking forward to seeing YOU. The First United Methodist Church is temporarily holding its two “in-person” services at the United Church of Christ at the corner of N. Center and Adams streets. The UCC has very graciously opened their sanctuary for our use at 8:30 am and 11:15 am on Sunday. Services will continue to be live streamed on Facebook and posted shortly after the service.

SUNDAY’S LITURGISTS: Jim Easterday at the 8:30 a.m. service and Judy Stump at the 11:15 a.m. service. Organist Kay Finlay will play “God of Our Fathers” for the prelude and “Come, You Thankful People Come” for the anthem at the 11:15 a.m. service. Thomas Boys is pianist at the 8:30 a.m. service.

RECOGNITION OF VETERANS: A list of those who are now serving or served are listed in the bulletin.

PASTOR TONI’S MESSAGE: “Hannah’s Song” Text: 1 Samuel 2:1-10. Hannah’s song is a huge shout of joy that comes in response to God’s granting her deepest desire. As she sings, Hannah acknowledges that even as she has been so blessed, others have not. She knows this amazing act is not due to her own goodness but comes as a gift from the One who generously provides. Are we “guilty” of taking credit when the credit is not ours? Will we remember to always offer God the praise?

CHRISTMAS CLOSETHLINE PROJECT: The clothesline will be displayed in the narthex of the First United Church of Christ beginning November 14. ’ You may choose one child or several, buy the item of clothing, wrap it, put the paper doll on the outside of the package and return it to the First United Church of Christ by December 5 or before. Thanks for enthusiastically supporting this project to help brighten a child s Christmas.

Eternal God, we give you thanks in which you have given yourself to us. Grant that we may go into the world in the strength of your spirit, to give ourselves to others, in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
