Breden takes over at Argos
ARGOS — After another strong season by the Argos High School boys basketball team last year, veteran coach Gordon Mosson surprised a lot of people by retiring at the end of the 2021 season. It marked the seventh season for Mosson at Argos, following 25 at John Glenn, and his Dragon teams averaged 15 wins per year including two sectional titles (‘19, ‘20).
Even though Mosson will not be back on the bench this year, plenty of talent returns for first-year coach and former Laville HS assistant, Jason Breden.
Those returnees include seniors Kayen Brady, Dylan Kindig, Ted Redinger, Michael Richard and Jake Stults, juniors J.J. Morris, Elijah Osborn, AJ Mills and Nate Manikowski, plus sophomore Sean Richard.
“This year we want to continue to get better each day with a newly implemented offense/defense,” said firstyear head coach Jason Breden, who is assisted by Ian Kindig. “We want to play better as the season progresses into March. The Hoosier Plains Conference appears to be well-balanced with many competitive teams this year.”
Key games on the Argos schedule include at Plymouth (Dec. 3), hosting Laville (Dec. 7), the first HPC tilt vs. South Bend Career Academy (Dec. 17), the Bi-county Tournament (Jan. 18-22), and at sectional foe Triton (Feb. 3). The season opener is at Bremen Nov. 24.
