Tia A. Romig, 24, of Culver, passed away on Nov. 24, at Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, after a courageous, longtime battle with cancer.

Tia was born to Roger and Julie (Baker) Romig in Plymouth, on Nov. 30, 1996. At an early age Tia was diagnosed with cancer but she had a ‘never give up’ attitude that saw her through Culver Comm. Middle/high school, where she wrote a poem which was published, and then on to a bachelor’s degree in psychology from IUSB. She later accepted a position as a Special Education Aide at Culver Community High School.

Tia was an avid reader, particular­ly the Harry Potter and Twilight book series. She loved purses, kittens, her clothes, and her dog, Harley. She was known to enjoy a good cup of coffee or hot chocolate, shopping, yard sales, and makeup parties. She loved scary movies with her dad, working with children, and the American Girl dolls Grandma Bea bought for her.

Tia’s life was lived to the fullest and she will be missed by many. She is survived by her parents: Roger F. and Julie L. (Baker) Romig of Culver; maternal grandmothe­r: Bea A. Baker of Culver; aunts: Debra S. (Joe) Reinhold, Vicki T. (Richard) Zehner, and Carol S. Ringle; uncles, Chuck and John (Cindy) Romig; and cousins: Tim Reinhold, Jill Catherman, Priscilla Falk, Andy Zehner, Ben Baker, Mike Zehner, and Scott Zehner.

Tia is preceded in death by her grandparen­ts: Charles Baker, Margaret and Carl Romig; uncle: Jim Baker; and aunts: Susan Fout, Kelly Baker, and Marla Carmean; and cousin: Megan Zehner.

A time of visitation will be held at the Odom Funeral Home, Culver, on Thursday, Dec. 2, from 3 – 8 p.m. EST. Rev Tom Harzula will officiate funeral services on Friday, Dec. 3 at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Culver, at 11 a.m. EST, with a hour visitation prior. Burial will follow at Burr Oak Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Marshall Co. Humane Society or to Emmanuel UMC.
