Alvin Dean Williams, age 80, of Tippecanoe, was decommissi­oned on Nov. 25, 2021, while a resident of Life Care Center of

Rochester.

Alvin was commission­ed the son of Chester Alvin and Ethelyn

Nancy (Hamer) Williams at

Lafayette, on July 8, 1941. He was a resident of Tippecanoe for the past 52 years and was employed as a boiler operator at R.R. Donnelly of Warsaw. He enjoyed gardening, collecting and selling sports memorabili­a, action figures, racing memorabili­a (NASCAR – Roush Racing), and leatherwor­king. In his younger years, he participat­ed in mud racing.

Alvin was a proud Navy veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He served on the USS Cusk, USS Gudgeon, USS Sabalo, and USS Bashaw.

Alvin will be missed by his daughters: Mindi Williams (significan­t other Jeff Kinsey) of Tippecanoe; Jestina (Warren) Schultz of Warsaw, IN; sons: Blake (Julie) Williams of Indianapol­is; and Lance (Tracy) Williams of Crawfordsv­ille. He will also be missed by his grandchild­ren: Danny, Zack, Emma, and Owen.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Elizabeth Nancy Meier.

The family will receive friends on Friday, Dec. 3, from 10 a.m. -12 p.m. at Deaton-clemens Funeral Home 115 S. Main St. Bourbon. Funeral services will follow at 12 p.m. A graveside service with Military honors will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the Bedford Cemetery, Monon.

Memorial contributi­ons can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project (P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, AR 66675-8516) or St. Labre Indian School (Tongue River Road, Ashland, MT 59003).
