I am grateful for the leadership of our current elected officials in Marshall County, and I strongly support the candidacy of Jon Vanvactor for County Council, District 3. I have worked in Marshall County Government for 22 years, currently finishing my 16th year as County Assessor. As a department head, I have observed many wonderful people who work countless hours which is partly documented, but also partly behind the scenes conducted in a self-effacing manner. Jon is one of these elected officials. This aspect is characteristic of Jon and reminds me of the old saying that a person may do a great deal of good if they do not care who gets the credit for it!

His willingness to give of his time and expertise impresses me, but his integrity and judgment make me especially grateful to have the opportunity to work with him as a county council member. Here is what I appreciate about Jon’s leadership: he doesn’t shy away from the tough conversations, taking chances, being truly transparent, or managing differences of opinions. Jon listens to both sides of an issue, asks questions and researches the facts. Experience does matter in county government. I do trust that the county council is making the best decisions when spending my tax dollars.

Jon’s professional life has been about leadership, integrity and accountability. He understands the importance of everyone doing his/her job to exacting standards. He has vision, and he knows how to move organizations and projects forward. There will always be challenges facing our county and I feel strongly that Jon will continue to be the outstanding leader we need to keep moving forward. I encourage voters to look at the facts, trust that our leaders are doing the best job possible and vote for Jon Vanvactor for County Council on May 3rd.
