PLYMOUTH - Plymouth High School is excited to welcome Emma Schmidt as its new certified and licensed athletic trainer (AT).

“We are beyond excited to have a full time athletic trainer here at PCSC again,” said Plymouth Athletic Director Michael Delp. “When you go without something for awhile, you quickly find out how much you depend on that position/person. Not having a trainer the past six months has been a challenge to say the least.”

Now they have Schmidt, who went to Bremen High School (Class of 2018) and is a recent Indiana Wesleyan University graduate. She is contracted through Saint Joseph Health System to work at Plymouth High School.

“My goal is to serve all athletes and do my best to treat and prevent injuries,” said Schmidt. “I am looking forward to how I can serve the Plymouth community.”

In her high school days, she played soccer, basketball, and did swimming for one year. In college, she scratched that competitive itch by playing intramural soccer and volleyball. Besides playing and watching sports, Schmidt also loves to read, color, and camp.

“Emma has hit the ground running and already made the training room her home,” added Delp. “We love that she is a Marshall County girl and that she decided to come back to the area to serve the Plymouth community student-athletes.”

Schmidt takes over the AT position left vacant when Chelsea Hills left back in the fall and just in time for the spring sports seasons.

“I am looking forward to getting started this spring and helping those who come to see me,” she said. “The thing I love most about my job is that I get to impact the lives of those I come into contact with. I love the Plymouth community, the athletes and the athletic department so far! They have been so good to me and have really welcomed me into the community. I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the Plymouth community and serve the people here to the best of my ability.”
