Health Elite owner Chase Davis strives to help people meet their health and performance goals

PLYMOUTH—AS someone who has always had an interest in the healthy living world, both for himself and to help others find strength and wellness, it seemed natural that Chase Davis would open a shop—called Health Elite—that sold pre-workout protein drink additives, CBD products, performance and health supplements, and cold drinks. “a lot more people lift here, so as of now, it’s been a lot more performance-related,” he said, describing his products. His business also serves smoothies and offers a meal preparation service.

This store, which is located at 2287 N. Oak Rd., Plymouth between Pro Nail and Great Clips, is the second health-conscious business that Davis has owned. The first was in his hometown of Syracuse until he decided to move his business to Marshall County to be closer to home, which has been Bourbon since 2019.

as a high school wrestler, Davis had to keep a close eye on his health and well-being. “Dieting and watching my weight and things like that was crucial. Then I started working for a company after I was injured because I couldn’t do it anymore. So, I started paying attention to the other side of things,” he explained. “Being involved constantly throughout the years, I decided to open a business that I thought was really neat.”

after graduating, he spent a few years out in California. While there, he worked in a health food store much like Health Elite. “The business idea, I thought, was really awesome. It was technically a meal prep business. He did supplements and his main store had smoothies,” Davis described. “When I moved back with my wife, we brought the idea back with us.”

as someone who has immersed himself in how to live healthily and actively, Davis’ purpose for Health Elite is to help people achieve their health goals by working with his customers to learn their priorities and then work along side them and encourage them along the journey. Through the years, he has been able to play a crucial role in several success stories.

“I can give you a pathway… I can also give you a breakdown of the benefits of everything,” he explained. “I like pointing people in a natural direction. The natural products aren’t as fast, but when it comes to keeping things in the long-run, I believe they work better.”

He is also involved in the community, especially in the local wrestling scene as the Plymouth High School assistant coach. He also works closely with Hybrid Wrestling Club, which is located across the parking lot from the Health Elite storefront. He sees his coaching position as a platform to educate students on healthy habits that they can use the rest of their lives. “I talk a lot about things with the kids because I didn’t know much when I was in high school so it’s beneficial to have someone who understands things,” he said.

The smoothies are one of Davis’ favorite parts of the business. all of them are protein-enhanced and made with real ingredients. Plus, he is continually introducing new flavors to the menu. “They’re made with real fruit and fruit puree. If you don’t want all the fruit sugars, we have alternatives. almond milk or plant-based protein if you don’t want the whey or if you’re lactose intolerant,” he said. Depending on the customer’s desires, they can either be used as a healthy treat, to replace a meal, as a caffeinated pickme-up, or as a pre- or post-workout snack. “I have weight-loss ingredients and super foods. It varies.”

The meal preparation service allows customers to pick from five lean meat or vegetarian menu options, which are then made fresh and are available

for pick-up. Customers can choose either a five-meal pack or a 10-meal pack. “We prepare all five of them, then you would take them, store them, and eat them throughout the week,” he said. “If you wanted one of each, two of each, five of one… we can do that.” Gluten-free and keto options are available.

although most of his products are from the health industry, he also sells some lake-friendly watches that float if dropped in the water. They are made from bamboo which give them more buoyancy than the average waterproof watch. “We actually knew someone who went to school with my older brother who owns that company. He just happened to stop in a mention it to us,” Davis said. “Since we were all from Syracuse, we carry his products.”
