Jayne Marlene (Rhoade) Huppert-kolbe, 83, of Bremen, passed away on May 3, 2022 in Signature Health Care of Bremen. Marlene loved with all of her heart, and her family meant everything to her. From the time she grew up on the farm as a little daddy’s girl, she was a ball of energy, and was going to make a difference in the world. She cooked with her mom Erma, but that wasn’t her favorite chore. Getting on the tractor with her dad Marvin was what brought her alive. You didn’t need a license to drive the truck or tractor in the fields. And she loved being outside with the sun on her face and wind in her long blonde hair. A proud member of the Bremen Class of ‘57, she was in the band as the drum majorette. She competed in the Miss Plymouth Pageant, and she met her husband Wayne Huppert cruising in Bourbon. It was a love story that lasted through his Army tour in Germany, in fact they got married on one of his short leaves on Dec. 26, 1959 and had a “fancy” honeymoon in Plymouth. She had many jobs to help support the family, and they all worked around her kids. She sold Playhouse Toys and Tiara Glassware, was an apartment manager, and co-owner of Jamar Consignments. In her final years she proudly worked for Mishler Funeral Home. She was a member of the local chapter of Psi Iota Xi. Marlene had a lot of hobbies. She collected snowmen, glass fruit, picnic baskets, Hummel & other ceramic figurines. She enjoyed music, especially the old church hymns at Salem United Methodist Church. She loved to travel, and her adventures took her to Ireland, Venezuela, Hawaii, Alaska, and all over the other states. She enjoyed Hot Air Ballooning and watching stock car racing with Wayne, Michael Jordan Bulls, attending garage sales, gardening, and taking care of her lawn. Her happy place was on her front porch swing. She loved to watch her kids and grandkids play sports, play cards, and read the bible. Marlene was definitely a woman who was strong in her faith. Marlene made everyone in her family feel special. Husband Wayne passed away in 1995. They have two sons, Michael (Beth) of Bremen, with grandkids Mitch and Chelsea of Indianapolis. Also, Dean (Lindsay) of Elkhart with grandkids Lucas, Beau and Blake and grand-dog Maxene. She has a surviving sister, Carolyn Frick from the Lakeville area. In 1999 Marlene married Bob Kolbe. He passed away in 2008. Surviving are Bob’s children Joanne Kolbe (David) Taylor of Warsaw, Dr. Robert Kolbe Jr. (Luann) of Bremen, and David (Kathy) Kolbe Warsaw along with their grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m., Sunday, May 8, 2022 in Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 St Rd 331, Bremen. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, May 9, 2022 in Mishler Funeral Home with one hour of visitation prior. Pastor Chuck Krieg will officiate. Burial will take place at Bremen Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Bremen Community Cares, Inc 123 West Plymouth Street, Bremen IN 46506. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.mishlerfuneralhomes.com
