BREMEN — The Bremen Town Council discussed several items during their meeting on May 8 including the Park Pool Project and the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new solar park.

a public hearing was held for the Park Pool Project, which was designed by Troyer Group according to surveys conducted by Bremen residents that will completely reform the current pool area. The footprint will be expanded with the installation of a new concrete pad. The area containing the current large lap pool will be converted to include a splash pad area with a variety of sprayers, buckets, and slides. The current toddler pool will be made into a zero depth entry pool that will gradually slope down to five feet. along with that, there will be new shaded seating areas and an artificial turf lawn play area with shade. The existing facility building will receive interior upgrades, including ada requirements and a new perimeter safety fence will be installed. The plan is to begin construction this fall with project completion by next year’s pool season.

The project cost is estimated at $3,160,600. To help with the finances, Bremen will be applying for an Indiana Office of Community and Rural affairs (OCRA) grant to the tune of $1,485,200, for which the Marshall County Crossroad Regional Stellar designation has already approved. The application deadline is May 31 and the town expects to be notified of the awarding by the end of June. The remaining money will be drawn from local funds: $1,081,000 from TIF, $400,000 from ARP, and $194,400 from Park Funds.

The only public comment asked about a diving board, which will not be included in the new facility.

In other news, the Town of Bremen is pleased to announce that they will be having a ribbon cutting ceremony on May 11 at 1 p.m. at 5279 1st Rd. to commemorate the new Bremen Solar Park. The public is welcome to attend.
