Mike Vial Trio sweeps into the Moon Saturday Night
Ann Arbor-based singer-songwriter, Mike Vial, is no stranger to the stage with over 1000 concerts under his belt – traveling all over the state of Michigan and beyond. His energetic stage presence is infectious and unique, with a voice like James Taylor and meticulously fashioned guitar skills, his presentation on stage is electric – commanding the stage with an active performing style. Mike’s upbeat songwriting reflects his interest in education – he’s a High School English teacher-and his empathy for the human condition guides him to compose songs about his newborn daughter, people awaiting friends’ arrivals at the airport, a Japanese civil rights leader, and the glory of being alive.
This is Mike’s second appearance at the Moon and this time he brings two very talented musicians with him – composing his band as The Great Lake Effect. The band features Stuart Tucker on drums who played on Prairie Home Companion and appeared at multiple festivals supporting jazz, folk, and rock acts, and has remained a staple in the Detroit music scene. Also on hand is bassist, Ozzie Andrews. Born in Lansing, Michigan, Ozzie began his professional music career at age 13 playing in bands in & around Detroit. After graduating with a performance degree from the University of North Texas, he landed in New Orleans, Louisiana, and has performed in jazz, blues, and rock bands as well as on extended tours in the United States, Japan, Canada, Ireland & the United Kingdom.
Mike and the band will perform a short concert from 7 to 8 p.m. and after the break will come back to participate in the Wild Rose Moon Radio Hour, now recorded for both radio and television for WVPE 88.1, a National Public Radio Affiliate and WNIT PBS Michiana Channel 34.1. Tickets are $15 and available from ASK for Flowers or online at www.wildrosemoon.com or at the door, if available.
