What to know about the fall ’23 semester at PCC, CSU Pueblo

With the fall semesters at Colorado State University Pueblo and Pueblo Community College fast approachin­g, there are important dates that students and family members should know.

Classes begin on Monday at the two schools. CSU Pueblo will celebrate the start of the new year with a "Wolf Pack Welcome Week" of campus events. PCC will begin its annual Celebratio­n walk at 11:30 a.m. Monday in front of the PCC campus' Gorsich Advanced Technology Center. The event is a 14-year tradition where community members donning PCC T-shirts walk around campus.

Here is a rundown of important dates to remember for the fall 2023 semester. Dates listed below may change in the future. Check the CSU Pueblo and Pueblo Community College websites for updates.

Fall 2023 schedules

● Students at CSU Pueblo may add classes to their schedule without penalty until Aug. 25. A $10 late fee will be incurred students who add a class after Aug. 25. Students who add a class late also will need to fill out a Late Add Form, which can be found on the CSU Pueblo website.

● PCC will have a "Schedule Adjustment Period" from Aug. 21 to Aug. 25— giving students extra time to adjust their fall schedules.

● PCC and CSU Pueblo will be closed on Monday, Sept. 4 for Labor Day. Sept. 6 will be the end of the period to drop full-term courses without penalty at both CSU Pueblo and PCC.

● Midterm exams at PCC will be from Oct. 9 to 13. As part of a "Mid-Fall Break," CSU Pueblo will not have classes on Oct.

● The end of the withdrawal period for full-term classes at CSU Pueblo will be on Nov. 10. The last day for PCC students to withdraw from classes will be on Nov. 22. Neither institutio­n will have class from Nov. 20 to 24.

● Classes at CSU Pueblo end on Dec.

8. CSU Pueblo students will have final exams the following week, from Dec. 11 to 15. The last week of classes for PCC students will be Dec. 11 to 16.

Enrollment rises at Pueblo Community College

There are 4,314 students enrolled across PCC's Pueblo, Fremont and Southwest campuses. That is a 9.24% increase from last year's enrollment.

"We are ecstatic," PCC President Patty Erjavec said. "We believe that our community, the constituen­ts that we serve, are ready to reengage with their academic goals and Pueblo Community College is where they're seeking that educationa­l opportunit­y."

Enrollment numbers for CSU Pueblo will be released in October, following a final census by the Colorado State University System Board of Governors.

Last year, CSU Pueblo's enrollment trends showed a significan­t increase in new students, but a slight decrease in continuing students. CSU Pueblo enrolled 3,529 students in October 2022.

Both schools have increased tuition for the 2023-24 academic year. Tuition at PCC is $164.20 per credit hour for students taking classes on-campus and utilizing the College Opportunit­y Fund stipend. This cost is about a 5% or $8.21 per credit hour increase from last year.

In-state, undergradu­ate tuition at CSU Pueblo with the same stipend is $286.26 per credit hour. In-state, undergradu­ate tuition costs at CSU Pueblo increased 3% compared to the 2022-23 fiscal year.
