WALSTON — The Young Township supervisors opened the bids for the paving projects throughout the township and approved the sale of a dump truck at a special meeting that was held on Wednesday at the Young Township Municipal building. The supervisors opened the envelopes from the four bidders who were interested in bidding the projects for Calvary Lane, Ash Lane and Wilson Road. The bids opened at the meeting included: Glenn O. Hawbaker, $121,966.76; Quaker Sales Corp., $134,051.80; Hager Paving Inc., $140,785; and HRI Inc., $108,800.80. The supervisors approved HRI Inc. as the low bidder, pending approval by Jim Schepis of PennDOT. The motion carried 3-0.

Sam Adams, supervisor, also made a motion, seconded by Ron Heitzenrater, to approve the sale of the township's 2008 GMC truck for $29,500 to Redbank Township. It carried 3-0, with supervisor chair Michael Defelice also in favor of the motion.

It was also noted that Penelec approved to pay Young Township an escrow amount of $4,000, as they
