Miller Fabrication Solutions expands Manufacturing Day celebration amid pandemic with free, online Manufacturing Month events
BROOKVILLE — Miller Fabrication Solutions typically celebrates America’s “MFG Day,” or Manufacturing Day, annually on the first Friday of October. But in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the contract steel fabricator is marking the Oct. 2 event a little differently.
Manufacturing Day enables manufacturers and suppliers to the manufacturing industry, like Miller, to showcase their work and highlight career opportunities as the industry seeks to fill millions of high-skill, high-tech and high-paying jobs over the next decade. More than 400,000 students, parents, teachers, community leaders and others interested in learning more about modern manufacturing typically attend thousands of Manufacturing Day events in all 50 states and in Puerto Rico.
Due to the coronavirus, Miller’s Manufacturing Day festivities will not be held in person this year. Instead of scaling back its participation, however, Miller is expanding the usual one-day occasion into a month-long series of virtual events and charitable giving campaigns.
“Miller decided to do more — not less — for Manufacturing Day, in light of the challenges 2020 has brought,” said Eric Miller, the company’s president and third generation of family leadership. “We’re excited to have created a virtual Manufacturing Month, which provides multiple opportunities to engage the public, showcase our plant facilities and introduce some of the people who make Miller thrive, while
(Continued from Page One) simultaneously supporting the communities where we live and work.”
During Manufacturing Month, Miller team members will present plant tours at each of its three western Pennsylvania locations, giving close-up looks at state-of-the art equipment and robotics. A “Meet a Manufacturing Expert” event series will include interviews with in-house, skilled professionals to break down manufacturing processes and industry concepts. Across all events, Miller will spotlight charitable organizations that have been hit particularly hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. Miller will match all donations to these nonprofits made by Manufacturing Month participants, up to $500. Donors who email their contribution receipts to Miller’s marketing department will receive free Miller swag items in gratitude for their generosity.
Manufacturing Month events are free, open to the public and safely accessible from a computer, tablet or mobile device. To learn more about these events and register for a session, visit the Events section of www.millerfabricationsolutions.com. Instructions to join the online sessions via “GoToWebinar” will be emailed upon registration.
Manufacturing Day is presented annually by the National Association of Manufacturers and The Manufacturing Institute.
