Punxsy to advertise parttime help for secretary
PUNXSUTAWNEY — Punxsutawney Mayor Rich Alexander complained to Punxsutawney Borough Council at a special meeting on Monday about the lack of a treasurer’s report.
He asked what the borough was going to do to correct it.
Alexander asked how much money the borough has to operate until the end of the year.
After a long discussion, council decided to place an ad in the newspaper to hire someone to help Michele Peace, borough secretary, who is doing three jobs at once.
Matt Conrad, police chief, said the mayor and council members can print out profit and loss anytime they want
Peace said they are also using new software, which combines payroll with the regular software.
Council approved a motion to advertise for a part-time employee.

• After discussions on purchasing a new vehicle to be used by public works and code enforcement, it was learned that the vehicle was looked at by Dave Bofinger, who said it was just in need of undercoating and did not need to be replaced.
Borough manager Toby Santik said that they should take the time to come up with a real management plan through Enterprise, and that way keep abetter tabs on borough vehicles.
Conrad said the problem is that it’s not budgeted, and he asked why the sewer office isn’t funding it like he has to do with his own fleet of vehicles every year.
• Council approved a CDBG cooperation amendment for the Community Center Fitness Center.
Santik said that they are going to rebid it so they can get air conditioning into the fitness center, which used to be the cafeteria for the old junior high.
