Commissioners hear about new Brookville business
BROOKVILLE — The Jefferson County commissioners received an update on the opening of a new business in Jefferson County at their meeting Tuesday.
Jamie Lefever, Jefferson County Development Council, said that Love’s Travel Center opened this past week.
“We’re working with them to have a grand opening and ribbon cutting and we’d like for everyone to come Aug. 5 at 10 a.m., and there’ll be some presentations and speakers,” she said.
Lefever said Love’s is located at 1373 Rt. 28, Brookville.
“This has been a project for a very long time, and its a big win for Jefferson County,” Lefever said. In other business:
• Ben White, community development director, announced several area surveys:
— Big Run, Union Street (Church Street to Pennsylvania Avenue street).
— Corsica, Maple Street/Pine Street waterline replacement project.
— Eldred Township, Route 36 waterline extension project.
White said these surveys are being conducted to determine if the municipality is eligible to apply for grant funds. He said all information received from the survey will be kept strictly confidential.

7. They collected 21,800 pounds, of which almost 9,000 was televisions, 4,000 was electronics and 1,200 was computers.
The next collection will be held Saturday, Aug. 27, at Goodwill in Falls Creek.
