Robin Edward Smith, 62, of Valier, passed away peacefully at home on Jan. 29, surrounded by his family and close friends.

He was born July 19, 1960, to Robert Smith and Violet Smith in Punxsutawn­ey.

Robin recently retired from Newville Constructi­on, where he was a heavy equipment operator. He loved his job and work family. He was an avid outdoorsma­n; he loved to fish and spend time at his camp in Wolf’s Den with his grandson Acetyn. He also enjoyed hunting at the family farm, digging for ginseng and reading. Most of all, Robin enjoyed going to the casino with his wife, Lonnie.

He is survived by his parents; wife Lonnie (Swartz); four daughters, Heather (Dustin), Julie (Doug), Morgan (Cody), and Charli (Tyler); three grandchild­ren, Lindee and Molly Reed, and Acetyn Friend; two brothers, Clifford W. Smith (Heather) and Shawn A. Smith; a sister, Beth Edwards (Chuck); and a brother and sister-in-law, David Swartz and Jennifer Morrison. He also had a very special bond with his mother- and father-in-law, Bugsy and Jean Swartz, and his best friend, Jim Shuster. Additional­ly, Robin is survived by many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly and who loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dougie Smith and Greg Smith, and his stepmother, Leora Mae Smith.

Friends will be received on Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the McCabe Funeral Home Inc., 114 Maple Ave., Punxsutawn­ey. Friends will also be received on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 12 p.m. at the funeral home.

Interment will take place at Valier Cemetery.
