Martha E. Sutter, 92, of Rosssiter, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2023, at Mulberry Square Elder Care.

She was born in Punxsutawn­ey on Nov. 9, 1930, a daughter of the late Daniel Guidash and Lydia (Sylvia) Guidash. Her parents were Hungarian immigrants whom she adored.

Martha later helped them with their English speaking and U.S. citizenshi­p.

On June 2, 1947, she married Virgil Marvin Sutter. He preceded her in death in 1974.

Martha was a member of the former Presbyteri­an Church in Rossiter.

Mrs. Sutter worked at the Shoe Factory, making shoeboxes for many years. Her children fondly recall her as a hard worker, both at work and at home.

She enjoyed sewing and making doll clothes, crafts and creating flower arrangemen­ts. She decorated her home, both inside and out, for every season of the year. Collecting porcelain dolls was a favorite hobby; all her dolls had a chore and were decorated appropriat­ely for their job.

In her younger years, Martha loved to go to square dances with her husband, and also enjoyed singing with her kids.

She is survived by five children, Arlene J. “Cookie” Long of Rossiter, Kathy J. Yoder of Rossiter, Cindy L. Seger and Dave Brooks of Rossiter, Kerry L. Sutter and wife Cindy of Anita and Timothy R. Sutter and wife Jennifer of Indiana; 12 grandchild­ren; 31 great-grandchild­ren; and three great-greatgrand­children.

Martha was the last member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her parents and nine siblings, Julius Guidash, George Guidash, Mike Guidash, Frank Guidash, Steve Guidash, Margaret Evans, Lydia Guidash, Helen Lapierre and Betty Berry; one grandson, Martin Yoder; and three sons-in-law, Kenneth Long, Martin Yoder and Ronald Seger.

She was surrounded by her loving family and her roommate CeCe when she passed away.

Friends will be received from noon until 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawn­ey. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Nancy Basile.

Interment will follow at Pine Cemetery, Canoe Township, Indiana County.
