Lowell Wayne Young, 84, of Worthville, passed away April 25, 2023, at Penn Highlands Brookville.

He was born on July 9, 1938, in Ohl, the son of the late Harry and Hazel (Himes) Young. On Dec. 20, 1958, he married Edna Virginia (Holt) Young, who survives and resides in Worthville.

Lowell worked as the maintenanc­e supervisor for Owen Illinois until his retirement in 2002. During his career with Owens Illinois, he had the opportunit­y to travel to various states and countries to help build different machines in the plants.

He was a member of the Ohl United Methodist Church. He served as a town councilman for the Worthville Borough for 50 years.

Lowell enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working, riding his sideby-side and being a wannabe farmer after his retirement. He will be remembered for his kindhearte­d spirit, willingnes­s to help others and his love of picking on others.

Lowell is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Virginia (Holt) Young; four children, Debbie Dinger and husband Michael C. Dinger of Ohl, Robert Young and wife Karen of Worthville, Michael J. Young and wife Beth of Julian, and Darla Quick and husband Greg “Ron” Quick of Worthville; 10 grandchild­ren, Emily Nedley and husband Jake, Rachel Dinger, Alexander Young, Kelsey Young, Tyler Young, Eric Young, Matthew Young, Jason Young, Adane Young and Ronald Gary Quick; a great-grandson, Joss Nedley; and a brother, Harry Young and wife Barb of Worthville.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 12 and 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at the Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc. A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home, with Pastor Randy Hall officiatin­g. Burial will be in Worthville Cemetery.
