BROOKVILLE — American Legion Post 102 in Brookville and Denny’s Restaurant are joining forces to honor law enforcement officers in recognition of National Police

Memorial Day on May 15.

“There were 136 law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty in 2023 and so far this year there have been 44 police officers killed,” said American Legion Post 102 Commander Steve

aH P SEnt. “That is far too many. Members of the American Legion know what it is like to lose a comrade. We see funerals for the fallen officers all to often on TV. Our hearts go out to their families and comrades. Fortunately, we have not had a fatality in our area. These days, it could happen, though. These men and women are our shield against chaos, and we want to show our appreciation for what they do.”

On May 15, Post 102 will purchase a meal for any member of the Pennsylvania State Police, municipal police officers and sheriff’s deputies, whether they are on duty or not.

“All they need to do is show their badge,” said Ent.

“We are proud to be a part of this program,” said Brookville Denny’s restaurant manager Valerie Rodriquez. “We place a high value on our police officers and welcome them at our restaurant.”

Denny’s is open for breakfast at 6 a.m. and closes at 1 a.m. Officers can stop in at any time. There are no restrictions on meal selections. The offer applies only to officers.

Denny’s is located at the intersection of I-80 and Route 36.

Ent noted that the program is not an initiative of the national American Legion.
