2020 CAR PARK CONCOURS DE QUAILEGANCE

-

The past year presented several challenges, but with the support of our event Sponsors and Entrants, The Peninsula Signature Events team was able to bring some of our favorite aspects of The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering to social media.

It's a well-known fact that some of the best vehicles on display at The Quail each year aren't inside the main gates – they're in the parking lot. Each year, The Quail honors the most extraordinary ride in the parking lot with the Car Park Concours de Quailegance Award.

Past winners include a 1965 Ferrari 275 GTB owned by Paul Eisenberg (2017), a 1957 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing owned by Greg Gill (2018) and a 1953 Aston Martin DB2 DHC owned by Jeffrey Long (2019).

The team replicated this fun tradition digitally by asking our Instagram audience to submit a photo of their vehicle parked in their home parking lot, aka the driveway, caption why their vehicle is special, and tag #TheQuailCarParkConcours.

All makes and models were welcome, and we received several amazing submissions from followers including an original 1969 Alfa Romeo Duetto and a 1991 Porsche 964 Turbo with only 45,000 miles on its odometer.

One photo stood out above the rest. A 1959 Alfa Romeo Spider owned by Joseph Storm dazzled us with its stunning red exterior and sunlight accentuating its beauty. Storm included the following caption: “My beloved 1959 Alfa Spider parked after driving through wine country on a long warm summer day. Countless fun times just finding any excuse to hop in the car and starting an impromptu adventure that might be as simple as just heading out of the driveway. #TheQuailCarParkConcours”

Although fans of the event would have probably preferred to come across the car while walking through the parking lot of The Quail, the 2020 digital Car Park Concours de Quailegance proved to be the next best thing!
