-

Aspectacular 1948 Talbot-Lago T26 Record Sport Cabriolet Décapotable with Coachwork by Figoni et Falaschi with an incredible history and provenance is an early consignment in Bonhams 24th annual Quail Lodge Auction, taking place on August 13th in Monterey, California. This bespoke automobile – which still retains its fabulous original bodywork, engine and chassis – boasts an exciting period Concours d'Elegance history. The vehicle very recently underwent a superb factory-correct restoration conducted by marquee specialists, ensuring its pristine condition, and cementing its place as a top contender at the most prestigious automotive events worldwide.

Bonhams is also honored to have the opportunity to bring the exceptional collection of the late Judge Joseph E. DiLoreto to this year's Quail Lodge Auction. A notable figure in Southern

California who served for nearly two decades on the Los Angeles Superior Court, Judge DiLoreto (known as “Joe” to friends and family) was a lifelong motor car enthusiast and avid racer who made a name for himself as a Gentleman Driver within local and international circles. In 1973, Judge DiLoreto was a founding member of the Vintage Auto Racing Association, which still stands as the largest vintage car racing member organization on the West Coast. Through his passion for auto racing, which lasted for nearly half a century, the judge came to be acquainted with a number of celebrities of the same ilk, including the Unser brothers, Carroll Shelby, Mario Andretti, Paul Newman and Steve McQueen, to name just a few.

Each of the cars in Judge DiLoreto's collection were maintained perfectly, upkept to the highest possible standards. The championship-winning, ex Derek Bell and Henri Pescarolo

1974 Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 TT 12 is the collection's crown jewel. Judge DiLoreto bought the prized vehicle directly from the Alfa Romeo Works racing team over four decades ago along with another treasure, his 1966 Shelby Cobra 427, which was recently restored by renowned expert Mike McCluskey. The DiLoreto Collection is filled with a number of additional historically important racers, including a championshipwinning Lola T290, a Dolphin America and Shelby Can-Am racer, two spectacular Jaguar sports cars, a custom build Ford Ranchero, and more.

Further prominent consignments already secured for this year's Quail Lodge Auction include a marvelous duo of 1950s Italian coachbuilt sportscars. Hailing from Maranello is the unique 1952 Ferrari 212 Europa with bespoke coachwork by Carrozzeria Ghia. This very Ferrari was displayed as Enzo's ‘Haute Couture' sportscar at the 1952 Geneva and Torino Motor Shows. It has since been expertly restored and is today certified by Ferrari Classiche as a matching numbers car. From the renowned Torinese firm Lancia is a spectacular example of arguably their most famous sportscar ever produced, the 1955 Lancia Aurelia B24S Spider America. Driven by notable figures such as Brigitte Bardot, this timeless Pininfarina penned model was made in just 181 examples. The example on offer at the Quail Lodge is a numbers-matching car with excellent pedigree.
