1963 Citroën Ami 6

Bronson Page & Michael Baum – California

-

Penned by sculptor Flaminio Bertoni, the designer of the Citroën DS, for chic city dwellers, the car has raised eyebrows since it was introduced in the early 1960s. Everything to love about French cars cranked up to eleven: inversely raked rear window to allow passengers to wear hats while maintaining trunk space? Check. A front end that looks like an elephant sat on it? Check. Paisley patterned interior fabric? Check. A shift lever sticking out of the dash? Check. Built on the sensational 2CV platform, it is driven in Los Angeles, including the beloved and congested freeways with the 24.5 hp available from an air-cooled two-cylinder boxer engine. Not a single minute goes by without somebody waving, smiling, taking pictures and videos or honking!
