Quail Lodge & Golf Club, Carmel, California
Welcome to The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, A Peninsula Signature Event. I am delighted to welcome you today on this special occasion – the 19th year of celebrating the exceptional heritage of our automobile industry, together with an outstanding display of lovingly restored cars and motorcycles. The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering has become a highly enjoyable and exclusive experience for motorsports enthusiasts and collectors from around the world and is one of the highlights of Monterey Car Week.
Our event features some of the world's rarest and most exquisite collections of vintage automobiles and motorcycles; as well as delicious culinary delights and luxury lifestyle elements in an intimate gathering of old and new friends.
This year we are highlighting the 50th Anniversary of the BMW M Division, All things MINI, as well as 70 years of Jaguar and their wins at Le Mans. We will also present the traditional classes of Pre-War Sports and Racing, Post-War Sports, The Great Ferraris, Custom Coachwork and many others.
To keep you well sustained, our culinary team has prepared a delicious feast with five gourmet pavilions, inspired by “the bridge”. A bridge represents strength, human ingenuity, engineering and design – just like a beautifully built car. It also connects people and ideas. With the upcoming openings of our new Peninsula Hotels in London and Istanbul, we have chosen famous bridges from these cities as inspiration, as well as New York, Bangkok and Big Sur here in California.
Thanks to your presence and support, we continue to support a range of local charities, namely The California Highway Patrol 11-99 Foundation, Rancho Cielo Youth Campus, Naval Postgraduate School Alumni Association & Foundation and the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps.
Most importantly, I would like to thank our sponsors for their generous support without which this event could not take place. I am most grateful for their ongoing commitment and am delighted that they have become an integral part of this remarkable annual celebration of camaraderie and fellowship amongst automobile enthusiasts, collectors and friends alike.
Again, my warmest welcome. Yours sincerely,
The Hon. Sir Michael Kadoorie
