Dorothy ( Dot) Farina, 89, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, March 12, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Pittston, Pa. on April 29, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Catherine and William Kohler. She resided at Diamond Rock Terrace in Lansingbur­gh.

Devoted wife for 47 years of the late Emil J. Farina; loving mother of Gerard E. Farina (Cindy) and the late David Minnich ( Nancy); sister of the late Delores Kohler and late brother Charles Kohler. Grandmothe­r of Angela Geroux ( Michael), Anthony Farina (Andrea), and Dawn, Dee, David, Ronald, Mark Minnich. Great- grandmothe­r of Natalie Geroux, Rockie Moore and Kemper Davis. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, and was especially close to her loving nephew, Ronald Siegel.

In her early years, Dorothy moved from Pennsylvan­ia to Newark, NJ, where she resided for approximat­ely 20 years. She then moved with her family to the Capital District. In 1973, she and her husband opened Emil’s Newsroom in Albany. The business recently celebrated its 41st anniversar­y and is currently run by her son Gerard.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff at St. Mary’s Hospital for the compassion­ate care they gave her, and a special thank you to John King, chaplain, for bringing comfort and peace to her and her family during her final hours. The family would also like to thank Dr. Adrian Keratnycky and Melanie for their many years of care and support.

The funeral Mass will be Saturday at 10 a. m. at St. Anthony of Padua Shrine Church, 55 State St., Troy. Entombment will follow in St. Mary’s Mausoleum in Troy.

Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at St. Anthony’s Church on Saturday morning prior to the Mass from 9 to 10 a. m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Associatio­n, 440 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205.

Arrangemen­ts are by the Doran Funeral Home, 9 South Lake Ave., Troy.
