CDTA changes some routes
ALBANY >> The Capital District Transportation Authority is rolling out a comprehensive package of service enhancements Sunday that will be the largest set of changes the group has rolled out in the past five years.
According to a news release, most of the enhancements will improve service frequency by adding buses and increasing rider capacity. The plan adds more than 16,000 hours of service to key routes throughout the Capital Region, while a couple of routes are being modified to provide more efficient service.
Seven routes were identified for increased service, including:
• Route 10 (Western Avenue): Weekday frequency between 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. will increase from every 20 minutes to every 15 minutes;
• Route 12 (Washington Avenue): Weekday frequency between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. during the University at Albany school year will increase from every 10 minutes to every eight minutes;
• Route 22 (Albany-TroyWatervliet): Weekday frequency will be improved throughout the day, mostly increasing from every 20 minutes to every 15 minutes;
• Route 85 (WaterfordTroy): Weekday frequency between 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. will increase from every 45 minutes to every 30 minutes. Sunday service will operate from 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.;
• Route 100 (Mid-City Belt): Weekday frequency between 6 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. will increase from every 30 minutes to every 20 minutes. Sunday service will operate from 7:45 a.m. to 9:45 p.m.;
• Route 370 (Troy-Schenectady): Frequency on Saturday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. will increase from every 60 minutes to every 40 minutes;
•Route 905 (AlbanySchenectady): Weekday frequency will be improved throughout the day, mostly increasing from every 12 minutes to every 10 minutes. Weeknight service will be extended to 1:15 a.m.
Meanwhile, a pair of routes are scheduled for service reductions, including:
• Route 116 (Mt. Hope/ Albany South End):
Weekday trips between 10:10 a.m. and 11:18 a.m. and 1:10 p.m. and 1:55 p.m. will be discontinued;
• Route 155 (Suburban Circulator): Weekday trips between 9:00 a.m. and 11:15 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. and 2:15 p.m. and after 6:30 p.m. will be discontinued. Weeknight service remains from 10:15 p.m. to 11:45 p.m. Saturday service between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. will be reduced from 45 to 90 minutes.
Some other lines will see minor adjustments either to their schedules or routes, including:
• Route 13 (New Scotland Avenue): Rerouted from Holland Avenue to provide direct service to Albany Medical Center via Madison Avenue and New Scotland Avenues from Lark Street;
• Route 114 (Madison/ Washington): Rerouted to access Western Avenue from Madison Avenue via West Lawrence Street;
• Route 182 (Troy-Cohoes-Latham): Minor time adjustments will be made throughout the schedule to improve service reliability;
• Route 351 (VanVranken and Broadway): Franklin Street stops will be removed, with the line rerouted along State Street;
• Route 763 (Albany/ Schenectady): Rerouted to access Western Avenue from Madison Avenue via West Lawrence Street.
